The Man Utd youngster was given his breakthrough by the Man Utd manager earlier in the season.

Kobbie Mainoo is happy to see Erik ten Hag keep his job as Manchester United manager after so much speculation about his future.

United have decided to stick with the Dutchman after a turbulent campaign in which they won the FA Cup, but recorded their lowest ever Premier League finish and crashed out of the Champions League at the group stage.

A key reason for keeping Ten Hag in the job was his use of the club's illustrious youth academy, with Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho two youngsters who played an integral role in their relative success over the campaign.

In fact, it was Mainoo and Garnacho who scored the two goals as United ended their season with a historic 2-1 victory over Man City in the FA Cup final, a resilient performance that showcased the untapped potential of Ten Hag's team.

United only publicly communicated their decision to stick with Ten Hag last week when many players were already away on international duty and for the first time, Mainoo has spoken about the decision to stick with the manager.

"Obviously happy to be building with him," he told reporters at an England press conference on Tuesday. "He's already got two trophies and hopefully there are more to come. It is nice to have that peace of mind, that we know what manager we are going back to in the new season.

“I am so grateful for him, that he put so much trust in me and belief in me to play in the team. I can't thank him enough.”
