There could be plenty of shirt number changes this summer in an overhaul of the Manchester United playing squad.
United are targeting three key signings at first-team level, while they are also looking for a record-level of player sales as they look to trim the fat on their squad and boost their transfer balance.
Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial will both leave the club for free at the end of the month and United are looking to move on a number of key players including Casemiro and Christian Eriksen.
Their expected exits will free up some of the most desirable squad numbers, with the likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho set to be offered improved numbers if they wish to take them.
United could also look to woo any new signings with a desirable squad number and here are some of the most notable that should be available in the summer.

![This one would be purely down to preference. Martial's exit will free up the No.9 shirt and Hojlund should be first in line to take it, if he wants. If that were to be the case, then the No. 11 shirt would be available and could be the next step in Alejandro Garnacho's meteoric rise. While he might fancy himself more as a No.7, taking Ryan Giggs' iconic number would be another upgrade for him.](https://www.thestar.co.uk/jpim-static/image/2024/04/09/16/23/GettyImages-1752489146.jpg.jpg?crop=3:2&trim=&width=800)
