Manchester United are set to raid Arsenal and make a key appointment to their backroom staff.

Arsenal physio Jordan Reece is set to leave the club and move to Old Trafford, where he will be appointed as the club's head physio, replacing Robin Sadler who left the club in January.

Reece's exact start date is yet to be decided given that the season has only just ended, but his appointment is understood to be a long-term planned addition to the medical department, and not a reaction to their well-documented injury issues over the previous campaign in which there were 66 individual cases of injury or illness that caused a senior player to miss a competitive match.

His arrival comes a year after former head of medical services Gary O’Driscoll also swapped Arsenal for United, who was brought in to drive change and modernise the club’s medical department.

United have been investigating the reasons behind their injury issues in recent months with manager Erik ten Hag confident that they will be able to find a solution to the extensive problem. Last month he said he “had an idea” of what was causing his side’s injury crisis and would “deal with it.”

It meant the Dutchman was only able to name his strongest XI on a couple of occasions across the campaign. One of the key arguments in favour of keeping him in a job was the manner of their performance with close to fully fit side in the FA Cup final against Man City.

United are still yet to decide what to do next with the managerial position with a decision expected to be communicated sometime next week.
