Man Utd will have an extra senior player when they begin their pre-season tour schedule next month.

Manchester United are set to have another senior player to choose from during their upcoming pre-season tour of the United States.

Scott McTominay is expected to feature in the squad that will fly to Los Angeles in less than a month's time after Scotland were knocked out of the European Championship over the weekend.

Scotland finished bottom of Group A at Euro 204 after their defeat to Hungary on Sunday night, having already lost to Germany in the opening game of the tournament and drawing with Switzerland last week.

The 27-year-old will be entitled to at least a three-week break following their elimination from the tournament, meaning he will not be expected to take part in the first two European matches of the summer schedule, but should be available for the bulk of matches in the US.

United begin their summer schedule against Rosenborg in Trondheim on July 15 before facing Rangers in Edinburgh on July 20. They then fly to LA to take on Arsenal on July 27, before matches against Real Betis in San Diego on August 1 and Liverpool in South Carolina on August 3. It is understood United players will begin to return to pre-season training in early July, though no official date has been confirmed as of yet.

Harry Maguire has already been taking part in recovery work at the club's Carrington training complex as he continues his return to fitness. The 31-year-old has been sidelined since early May after suffering a calf injury and was forced to miss the FA Cup final triumph over Man City as well as the European Championship with England.
