Marcus Rashford’s form has come under scrutiny in recent weeks amid reports of a move away from Old Trafford.

Manchester United fans are expecting a turbulent summer with plenty of changes after last season’s demoralising eighth place finish. As it stands, Erik ten Hag’s future remains unclear after last week’s incredible FA Cup final victory against Manchester City and it is not yet known whether that will be enough for the Dutchman to keep his job for a third season.

Another key figure who faces an uncertain future is believed to be fan favourite Marcus Rashford, who has looked a shadow of his former self this season - scoring just eight goals in all competitions in a stark contrast to the 30 he had registered the season before.

The 26-year-old is supposed to be in the peak years of his career but his recent drop in form has consequently denied him a place in Gareth Southgate’s England set-up for Euro 2024.

Pundits and supporters including Gary Neville have speculated that Rashford is unhappy at Manchester United and the uncertainty surrounding his future has alerted European heavyweights such as PSG, who themselves are in the market for a star-studded name to replace Kylian Mbappe.

However, the French champions are not the only big team keeping an eye on Rashford and a surprising report from TeamTalk has revealed that Premier League rivals Arsenal are also interested in making an eye-catching bid for the winger.

Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness gave his thoughts on the rumour in an interview with Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast and believes there is some substance to the claims, adding that Manchester United may have to accept a fee which is much lower than what Rashford would have been worth 12 months ago.

He explains: “I think Rashford could be off. It would be a surprise, but I think he’s been unsettled this season. There could well be another couple of midfielders out the door as well, but the forward line is really where they have to strengthen.

“Rashford himself may want to go. I’ve seen Paris Saint-Germain linked for a long time, and a move to Europe may make sense. A while ago, he would’ve been a £100m player. Now, if he wants to move – we could see something as low as £60-70m. That would’ve been unthinkable, but if there’s a willingness from both sides – then that’s the level we could see.”

At this stage, Manchester United are in no rush to sell Rashford and his future could well depend on who the Red Devils bring in to replace Ten Hag, if they come to that verdict at all. Rashford is also under contract until the summer of 2028, having only signed an extension in July 2023 - earning him a reported £325,000 a week.
