One of Manchester United’s injured players shared a video of him undertaking some warm-weather training.

Harry Maguire has posted a video showing his encouraging recovery from injury.

The Manchester United defender picked up a calf problem towards the end of the 203/24 campaign that resulted in him missing the final five matches of the season. Maguire faced a late race to prove his fitness ahead of Euro 2024, but was ultimately not deemed ready to travel to Germany with the rest of the England squad.

In a social media post at the time, Maguire wrote: “I'm devastated not to have been selected to play for England at the Euros this summer. Despite my best efforts, I've not been able to overcome an injury to my calf. Maybe I pushed myself too hard, to try and make it. Simply, I am absolutely gutted.”

But the video posted on Thursday night was a positive update ahead of the new season, and it’s hoped Maguire should be available to travel join United on their pre-season tour of America.

The 74-second video posted by Maguire’s brother, Laurence, who this summer signed for MK Dons, showed both siblings completing some running drills at a training facility in Portugal. The pair also were filmed doing short passing drills, and the former United defender reposted his brother’s video on his Instagram story.

Maguire may still depart United this summer as Erik ten Hag begins putting together his plans for the new season. The former Leicester City man, along with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof could be allowed to leave if United receive a significant offer.

That’s despite Maguire enjoying a positive 2023/24 campaign in which he played 31 games and was a regular starter when fit. The 31-year-old was only named on the bench four times, none of which came after 3 October, in a surprising turn of events for a player who was stripped of the captaincy last summer.
