Just over 24 hours after reports claiming Manchester United would listen to offers for most players, Fernandes has spoken about one day playing outside the Premier League.

Bruno Ferandes has said he has no imminent plans to leave Manchester United this summer, following reports that the club are willing to listen to offers for most of their senior players.

The Telegraph claimed on Monday that only Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund are ‘off limits’ this summer, meaning Fernandes could be allowed to leave if an acceptable offer was presented. BBC Sport added that it would take a ‘major offer’ for the club to consider letting their club captain leave, implying it is a possibility.

Fernandes has previously been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia this summer, and while it’s believed he is still in the club’s plans, the midfielder hinted in an interview just a day after those reports that he is beginning to consider playing outside the Premier League.

“I’m not thinking about other things at the moment. Obviously, it doesn’t just depend on me, does it? A player always has to want to be here, but at the same time you have to want him to stay. At the moment, I feel there’s that on both sides,” Fernandes told DAZN Portugal in a recent interview.

“I’m not thinking too much about the future, not least because, obviously, this season hasn’t been at the level I’d hoped for, either individually or collectively, so far. We could still end the season by winning the cup. After that, we have a very important Euros coming up.

“So, if you want me to be very honest, if I have to think about not continuing in the Premier League, it won’t be until after the Euros, because nothing will be able to take my focus away from the FA Cup final and the Euros, as there’s nothing more important than that at the moment.”

Fernandes joined United in January 2020 and has made 230 appearances in that time, scoring 79 goals. While the 29-year-old is enjoying something of a recent hot streak, and has netted seven in his last six appearances, his performances this season have been well below the standard he set in his early years at the club.
