Arsenal could benefit from an injury boost ahead of their trip to face Manchester United in their penultimate match of the Premier League season.

Mikel Arteta's side travel to Old Trafford a week on Sunday and will be looking to secure another three points as they go in search of a historic title win. Arsenal strengthened their challenge with a crucial 3-2 North London Derby win over Tottenham at the weekend, meaning they are one point ahead of Man City, although Pep Guardiola’s side still have a game in hand.

In order to have any hope of winning the Premier League, the Gunners will most likely have to win all three of their remaining matches against Bournemouth, United and Everton.

It looks like they could receive a huge injury boost before the end of the season as well, with defender Jurrien Timber tipped to return to competitive action at some stage in the coming weeks.

Timber has started successive matches for Arsenal at U21 level and is on course to return to the bench against Bournemouth this weekend, with Football.London suggesting he will then be in contention to start against United a week later.

The 22-year-old, who was hotly linked with a move to join former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford before he joined Arsenal, hasn't played since since he suffered an ACL injury on his Premier League debut last August.

Timber won two Eredivisie titles during his time playing under Ten Hag at Ajax. His return to action would be considered a huge boost to Arsenal at this stage of the season.
