Manchester City have set their sights on purchasing a new winger this summer.

Savio has revealed his future plans should be revealed in the next few weeks, with the winger expected to join Manchester City.

The 20-year-old is owned by Troyes, a member of the City Football Group, and he joined the club as their record signing in 2022. Savio has spent the last two seasons on loan at PSV Eindhoven and Girona, and hasn’t played a single minute for Troyes, who have suffered back-to-back relegations in France.

As his parent club were struggling in the French second tier this season, Savio excelled for Girona - another of City’s sister clubs. The attacker played 41 games in 2023/24 and he provided 11 goals and 10 assists as the Catalan club finished third in La Liga and secured a spot in the Champions League.

Those performances have grabbed City’s attention, and Savio is expected to sign permanently with the Premier League champions this summer. Whatever happens, it seems almost impossible that a member of Brazil's Copa America squad will play in the French third tier next season, and the youngster admitted in a recent interview that he hopes to play in the Champions League.

“I still don't know where I'll be next season, my agents are still talking and we should decide in the next few weeks,” Savio told Flashscore. “But it's clear that playing in the Champions League would be an incredible achievement for anyone who's been following football since they were a child, not least because it's a tournament with a very special atmosphere.

“I've managed to improve a lot physically and tactically and, with the sequence of games,” he added, when asked about his time at Girona. “I've gained confidence to take more chances with the ball on my feet, so I can try to create more opportunities for my team.

“When we came to Girona, we made a choice based on our belief in the management project and the players the club would bring in. We always strive to do our best, but we really fitted in well this season and managed to put in an exceptional performance, which surprised a lot of people.”
