Salford road closures: more than a dozen for motorists to avoid over the next fortnight

Salford's motorists will have 13 road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And eight of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M61, from 8pm January 3 to 6am January 12, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 southbound, J5 to J3 - lane closure for communications.

• M60, from 8pm December 11 2023 to 6am February 24 2024, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M602 both directions, junction 1 to junction 3 - carriageway closure for signs - erection.

And a further 11 closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• M60, from 8pm January 8 to 6am January 10, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M62 both directions J10 to J12 - carriageway closure for structure - maintenance.

• M60, from 9pm January 8 to 6am January 27, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 both directions, junction 15 to junction 16 - lane closures and carriageway closure for electrical works on behalf of National Highways.

• M61, from 9.30am January 10 to 3.30pm January 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 southbound, link road to A580 eastbound, Lane one closure due to works by Salford Council on the A580.

• M60, from 11pm January 10 to 5am January 11, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 12 - carriageway closure for communications on behalf of National Highways.

• M60, from 11pm January 10 to 5am January 11, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 12 - carriageway closure for communications on behalf of National Highways.

• M60, from 9pm January 11 to 5am January 13, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M602 westbound, J2 to J2 - carriageway closure for electrical works on behalf of National Highways.

• M60, from 11pm January 11 to 6am January 12, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M60 clockwise, junction 10 to 11 - lane closure for electrical works on behalf of National Highways.

• M61, from 9pm January 13 to 5am January 15, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M61 northbound, J3 to J4 - lane closure for barriers - permanent on behalf of National Highways.

• M61, from 8pm January 19 to 6am January 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A580 westbound to M61 northbound, - lane closure for communications.

• M60, from 8pm January 22 to 6am January 27, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A580 eastbound to M60 clockwise - carriageway closure for electrical works on behalf of National Highways.

• M61, from 9pm January 22 to 5am January 23, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M61 northbound, J3 to J4 - carriageway closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal on behalf of National Highways.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
