Man Utd have a number of injury concerns ahead of this afternoon’s Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest

Manchester United are facing a number of injury concerns ahead of today’s Old Trafford clash with Nottingham Forest with at least seven players set to miss this afternoon’s fixture.

Luke Shaw and Mason Mount have both sustained injuries in the last seven days, with the latter picking up an injury in last week’s defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

Shaw has sustained a muscle problem and he is set to be out for longer than Mount, although manager Erik ten Hag has provided little detail on the pair’s issues.

‘’We can’t do that,” he said, when asked to give more detail on the injuries to the duo. “For some period, they will be absent. Luke will be [out] longer than Mason.’’

Tyrell Malacia has been out since United’s first pre-season game and will not be back until next month.

Ten Hag continued: “It will also take a few weeks before he [Malacia] will be back. Definitely we have solutions in our squad to cope with that.

“We thought before the season about this scenario, what could happen. You hope to avoid this scenario, that’s also clear, but if it happens, you have to be ready for it. And we are ready to deal with it.”

Amad, Tom Heaton and Kobbie Mainoo are yet to feature this season and are expected to remain out while Harry Maguire is a doubt after missing the trip to Spurs with a knock.

Rasmus Hojlund has taken part in full first-team training this week but the visit of Forest will come too soon for the summer arrival from Atalanta.

Ten Hag added: “Next week we expect him to do a full week with all the team trainings. So he’s very near to making the squad.”

Forest are set to be without Omar Richards while Felipe, Wayne Hennessey and long-term absentee Giulian Biancone are all expected to miss out. Ola Aina is a doubt for the visitors.
