Manchester City have just two absentees for Tuesday’s game at the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola confirmed in Monday’s pre-match press conference that Manchester City didn’t pick up any fresh injuries over the weekend, meaning they remain without just two players for the midweek clash against Brentford.

City would move above Arsenal and back into second place with a win against the Bees, but are not able to go first following the 1-1 draw with Chelsea at the weekend. That result leaves the champions four points behind table-toppers Liverpool, ahead of Tuesday’s game in hand against Brentford.

Speaking after the Chelsea game, Guardiola revealed that Jack Grealish will be out for around 10 days and therefore won’t be involved against Brentford. “It's not that much, not as bad as we expected,” he said on Saturday. “It will be maybe 10 days. [Initially we thought] it was three weeks or a month, but it is less so it is good news.”

Meanwhile, the City boss also explained last week that Josko Gvardiola will be absent for the remainder of the month due to a knee injury. Meanwhile, Bernardo Silva overcame a knock to play 25 minutes against Chelsea, while Mateo Kovacic was named among the substitutes after missing the previous two games through injury.

As for Brentford, Thomas Frank said after Saturday’s defeat to Liverpool that defender Ethan Pinnock will not play until after the March international break. The Jamaican international’s injury brings the Bees’ list of absentees up to six.

Aaron Hickey, Rico Henry, Josh Dasilva, Kevin Schade and Bryan Mbeumo all have long-term issues and will not be back for several weeks.

Brentford head into the match on the back of a disappointing run of form and have lost three of the last four. They did, however, do the double over City last season and are the last visiting side to win at the Etihad.

Out: Gvardiol, Grealish (City); Pinnock, Hickey, Henry, Dasilva, Schade, Mbeumo (Brentford).
