City’s outstanding unbeaten run run in the league was stretched to 11 matches during February, with the side scoring four goals in their two outings and conceding just one, to jump back into the top three - and Taylor has now been rewarded for his side’s excellent form.

Taylor saw off tough challenges from the likes of Manchester United’s Marc Skinner and Aston Villa’s Carla Ward to scoop the accolade - claiming the manager of the month award for the first time.

Speaking about the award, the head coach said: “It’s a really nice feeling having hit the woodwork on a couple of occasions. It gives validation from the public and our supporters who I want to thank for voting for me in heavy numbers.

“It’s great and a nice achievement, and it’s really great to be able to share it with the staff who have put a lot of hard work into it.

“I’m obviously just the front of it, but it’s fantastic to recognise the hard work that we’re putting in. Hopefully that’s rewarded with trophies at the end of the season and if not, it won’t be for the want of trying.

“It’s always about the players at the end of the day. The support staff are there for the players but it’s down to them putting together the performances and results on the pitch that allow me to stand here and be able to receive this Manager of the Month award.”

Manchester City return to action this week as they head to Bristol City in the FA Cup, with kick off scheduled for 2pm this Sunday.
