BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2022 date & presenters confirmed for Salford broadcast
and live on Freeview channel 276
It’s hugely popular event in the sporting calendar - and it’s going to be broadcast live from the BBC studios in Salford once more.
BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2022 will take place on Wednesday 21 December with Gary Lineker, Clare Balding, Gabby Logan and Alex Scott presenting the evening programme live from MediaCityUK again like in 2021.

Hide AdThe popular programme, which celebrates sporting heroes from the previous 12 months, is now in its 69th year and will look back on a busy year in the sporting calendar.
Who is nominated for BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2022?
The BBC is yet to announce the shortlist but there are plenty of highlights and sportspeople who are likely to make an appearance.
Over the last year, we’ve seen England’s Lionesses bring football home in Euro 202; a record number of medals for the Home Nations at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Ronnie O’Sullivan take his seventh World Snooker Championship, Manchester City winning a nailbiting Premier League title chase, with Liverpool taking both the EFL Cup and FA Cup, and Matt Fitzpatrick win the US Open.
And that’s all before the World Cup takes place in Qatar!
What are the categories in Sports Personality of the Year?
The categories for 2022 will include: BBC Sports Personality of the Year, World Sport Star of the Year, Helen Rollason award, Young Sports Personality of the Year, Unsung Hero, Coach of the Year, Team of the Year and the Lifetime Achievement award.
