The 10 Greater Manchester boroughs ranked from cheapest to most expensive to live including Stockport and Bury

It’s increasingly difficult to get on the property ladder - and here’s how each area compares.

The cost of houses across Greater Manchester have been on the rise in recent years. This is of course something that has impacted the rest of the country, with the city-region far from exempt.

Getting onto the property ladder is a tough prospect in 2024, and the area you want to live in can have a huge impact on how much you’ll need to pay. Prices across the boroughs of Greater Manchester vary, with Office For National Statistics data revealing how much prices have changed across the region.

One example of how the median house price hasn’t gone up too much in the last 10 years is Stockport. In 2013, the number was £232,500. A decade later in 2023, this number had risen to just £238,375.

The figures quoted in this article are all provided by the ONS. They all date from September 2023, apart from the Bury median house price which is from September 2022.
